Melted Candy for Extra Time

Was inspired by the desire to hold on to moments of joy just a little longer. The dripping effect transforms the football into something resembling a melting piece of candy, a symbol of celebration, nostalgia and fleeting happiness. Created in honor of the FIFA World Cup and Mexico’s role as one of the host nations, the piece incorporates references to Mexican identity, three hearts representing the three host countries, and three stars that represent the times Mexico has hosted the World Cup.  The title refers to extra time in a match, but also to those rare moments in life we wish could last forever—when excitement, hope and celebration become so sweet that we resist letting them end.
